Lauren & James | Greenville NC Wedding

Sunday, December 16, 2012 Posted in Wedding

I can't think of a better way to end my 2012 wedding season than by photographing Lauren and James' Greenville wedding today with my pal, Mark Collie. Lauren and James radiate joy and peace; I actually left their wedding energized and not exhausted. The way their families welcomed us with open arms will leave an imprint on our hearts for years to come. One of my favorite memories of the day happened when I was talking with Lauren's mom. I told her that I had been praying for the weather for days. She responded with a gentle smile and said, "Ginny, I have been praying for you for the past couple of weeks." I could tell she truly meant it, and the fact that the mother-of-the-bride had being praying for me, blessed my heart so much. Cheers to ending 2012 by celebrating Lauren and James' wedding. It has been a beautiful year.

Great photography! Of course, you had great subjects to work with. We especially liked the lighting in the picture with the girls praying. Captured a special moment. We enjoyed James exhuberance in the 2nd kiss picture in the church--onr happy guy! But the crowning picyure was of Lauren, under the veil, so delicate and sweet. Be Happy, our little neice!

What a blessing and privilege to have met you. I am so glad my daughter chose you to photograph their wedding. You did a fabulous job. My husband and I are so please by your work. Each picture speaks for itself. I wish we can rewind that beautiful event. They are indeed a special couple and compliment each other so well. Thank you and your assistant Mark for your great energy, joy and attitudes. We will be sure to spread your name. May our Lord Jesus continue to allow blessings to bestow upon your life and business.

Congratulations, Lauren & James! Y'all look so wonderful together. Blessings on your marriage. Ginny, these moments are GORGEOUS! You have such a gift. The shots of the bride getting ready, especially the perfume shot, are incredible. And, as you saw on FB, I'm a big fan of the Gangnam Style reference. ;) Second to last shot - absolutely BREATHTAKING!! I'm so proud of you, friend. I got to see you twice in 2012?! Please tell me 2013 means another Dallas visit? I might just have to fly out to see you and Mr. Shane....

Raleigh Photography Workshop | Renew

Sunday, December 2, 2012 Posted in Workshops

When I think back on my journey as becoming a full-time photographer, I get overwhelmed with joy at the beautiful adventure I embarked on. The sacrifice of weekends and evenings were nothing compared to the amount of freedom and creativity I felt as a photographer. However, the hardest process for me has always been in finding the balance between having a life and a business that are both flourishing at the same time. From my experience, it's easy to have one or the other, but having both takes a lot of work. That is why I created Renew Workshop. I wanted to create a space where photographers could get away for a weekend, hang out with other really cool, like-minded photographers, reflect on their dreams, ask me questions, and discover steps to get from point A to point B.

For example, there was a long time where I would come home from teaching, cook dinner for Shane, then go to my computer and edit until midnight. I would photograph $50 sessions at the park all day Saturday and Sunday, and I would literally edit sessions in every second of my free time. When I look back, I am amazed at how my love for photography and people sustained me enough to stick out the sacrifice of figuring out the simple stuff of being a photographer (like editing, pricing, etc). But, what if I had a chance to sit with another photographer for an entire weekend; watch how they edit, manage files, photograph a session...then I would've shaved hours of my my editing process, and would've had a life outside of photography. That is the driving passion behind Renew. I want to see photographers achieving balance, because I know what lies at the end of sacrificing time away from family and friends......depression and burn-out.

So, that's a little personal synopsis of what Renew is about. I'm excited to have the next Renew at my home in Raleigh. Registration is now open, and there are only 5 spots left. Grab yours before it's too late.

Three weeks ago, I had a Renew Workshop in Dallas. Here are the beautiful faces of those who attended. I had some major life changing experiences in Dallas with these girls. I can't wait for what Raleigh holds.
